The story

Once upon a time, a coastal fisherman lived here with his family

We called him Farfar – Grandfather. In the first half of the twentieth century, he would row out onto Vieryd Bay in the early mornings, mist still resting on the water, and return with herring and eel. His nets dried on the shore, and the coffee pot was always warm in the kitchen. That was life on the Blekinge coast back then – lived in rhythm with the sea, the wind and the seasons.

The fishing boats are fewer now. But the house remains. And so does the calm.

We rent out Farfar's house to guests who want to experience the genuine Swedish coast – not the polished version, the real one. Carefully preserved, with all the comforts you need.

The house

Rustic, warm and ready

Six beds, a crackling wood-burning stove and a wooden deck facing the fjord. The house is simple in the way that is a quality: solid materials, silence, and the sea as your nearest neighbour. At the same time, all the modern essentials are in place – dishwasher, washing machine and fast fibre broadband.

May – September

Summer

Swedish summer as it's meant to be. A gentle five-minute walk brings you to a picturesque, family-friendly sandy beach with a barbecue spot – the same beach where the village children have swum for generations. The forest starts right behind the house, with trails for walking and blueberry picking.

Tennis courts are minutes away, boats, kayaks and SUP boards can be rented in Svalemåla, and summer boats run daily from Järnavik out to the archipelago island of Tjärö.

October – April

Autumn & winter

The coast's quieter side – the one the fishing families knew best: eel caught in the autumn dark, nets mended by lamplight, the sea at rest.

For you, that means long walks on an empty beach, watching storms roll in from the deck, evenings by the crackling stove, and a visit to the year-round spa at historic Ronneby Brunn. It's hard to find a better place to slow down.
